Bagerhat Museum
বাগেরহাট জাদুঘর
Inside the Sixty Dome Mosque complex sits a small but tidy site museum. An intact sword of about five hundred years, old coins, terracotta plaques, clay pots, and a huge conch shell — many visitors are fascinated that a sea creature ended up here, because it quietly tells the area's history. The preserved crocodile skin also draws curiosity — the memory of Kala Pahar of the mazar dighi. Bilingual Bangla-English boards, a Khalifatabad map and a miniature mosque model — you get the summary of the whole history right here.
History & significance
One account says the museum was built with UNESCO support to preserve Khan Jahan Ali's memory. Collectors note the artefacts date mainly from 1500–1700.
How to get there
Inside the Sixty Dome Mosque complex, beside the mosque — your main mosque ticket covers entry.
Entry fee
৳15 · traveller-reported
Many say the mosque ticket covers it, but others were shown a separate ৳15 ticket — children free. Both accounts circulate; confirm at the gate.
Opening hours & best time
The same details keep repeating: summer 10:00 am–6:00 pm, winter 9:00 am–5:00 pm, a half-hour lunch break from 1:00 pm, and closed all Sunday. Some say it barely opens before 11:00 am.
Best time
Arrive before 5:00 pm — plenty of travellers arrived too late and found it shut. Skip Sundays.
Traveller tips
Don't miss the sword and the conch shell — the strongest evidence of the area's sea-borne history.
Some found the collection modest — keep expectations measured; the mosque remains the main draw.
Keep your ticket stub — they check it at the museum gate too.
