Destination guide
Baliadi Zamindar Bari
বলিয়াদী জমিদার বাড়ি
A 400-year-old zamindar estate in Kaliakoir — red-brick buildings, a natmandir, the ruins of old wings and the stories of the landlord era. One thing to know before you go: entry inside the buildings is now refused; standing outside and taking in the history is the actual experience. For heritage lovers it is still a rewarding stop.
History & significance
Locals date the estate to around 1612, in Emperor Jahangir's reign. The familiar chapters of Bengal's zamindar history — the division into Boro and Choto torof, the natmandir, the grand Durga Puja — all belong to this house's story.
How to get there
From Dhaka via Kaliakoir, then a local rickshaw or CNG. It pairs with a Mokesh Bil or Sreefoltoli trip in the same day — everything sits in the Kaliakoir belt.
Entry fee
No verified entry fee yet
Inside entry is currently refused, so the fee question does not arise. Viewing from outside is free.
Opening hours & best time
Viewable from outside in daylight; no fixed opening hours.
Best time
The red-brick buildings photograph best in winter daylight.
Traveller tips
