Destination guide
Chimbuk Hill
চিম্বুক পাহাড়
Around 2,500 ft high — locals call it the "Queen of Hills". In monsoon, clouds race over it like a herd of horses, and many travellers say you can reach out and touch them. It draws visitors at both sunrise and sunset, with a 180-degree sweep of cloud-draped ridgelines.
History & significance
It takes its name from Chimbuk Mro, an early Mro settler of the area — locals also call it Kala Pahar (the black hill).
How to get there
23–26 km from town (both figures circulate) on the same road as Nilgiri — about 1.5 hours by reserved chander gari or CNG from the bus stand. Almost everyone combines it with Shoilo Propat and Nilgiri in one trip.
Entry fee
৳20 · traveller-reported
A ৳20 per-person ticket at the gate — two separate accounts agree on the figure.
Opening hours & best time
Vehicles are not allowed on this road after 4 PM — start early and finish in daylight. There is a dedicated sunrise point too.
Best time
Monsoon for the cloud play, October–March for clear views.
Traveller tips
No hotels at Chimbuk — an army canteen serves breakfast and lunch and hill-food stalls run at the tourism centre; pre-order lunch.
Drones get confiscated at the checkpost — leave it behind.
The road closes after 4 PM — plan the return accordingly.
