Chuadanga Railway Station
চুয়াডাঙ্গা রেলওয়ে স্টেশন
This station sits right in the heart of the district town. Visitors say it's a lively place, crowded with travellers all day. Trains from Dhaka, Khulna and Jashore all stop here, so it is the main doorway into Chuadanga. Many describe it as one of the oldest stations of the subcontinent — a few even claim it was Bangladesh's first railway station.
History & significance
Trains have been running into this district since 1862 — several travellers repeat this point. There is friendly debate about which station is older, Chuadanga or Alamdanga, and accounts differ. Nearby, the building said to be Bangladesh's first post office is part of the same heritage story.
How to get there
Direct trains from Dhaka are the most comfortable: Sundarban Express (8:00 AM, via Padma Bridge), Chitra Express (7:30 PM, via Jamuna Bridge) and Benapole Express (11:30 PM) — all three stop here. A Snigdha AC-chair ticket runs about ৳1,245 with VAT, AC cabin roughly ৳1,130-1,435, while regular classes cost far less. Buses from Dhaka include Chuadanga Express and Purbasha.
