Dhonagoda River & Embankment (Matlab Uttar)
ধনাগোদা নদী ও বেরিবাঁধ (মতলব উত্তর)
Along the Matlab Uttar embankment runs the Dhonagoda riverbank — river on one side, paddy on the other. The floating 'Dhonagoda Riverview Resort' on the river has become a group-outing favourite. Kash grass blooms in autumn, sunsets in the afternoon — in a local's words, 'if you want to sit quietly and talk with the river, this is the bank you come to.'
History & significance
The Meghna-Dhonagoda embankment has been a familiar regional road for a long time; on this river, the country's first pillar-less cable-stayed bridge is being built — connecting Matlab with Gazaria, Korean-funded. Reported cost and length figures vary between speakers, so treat them as rough.
How to get there
From Chandpur town cross the Matlab bridge by bike/car towards Amirabad and Charmachhua Bottola — or take an auto/CNG from Matlab. From Dhaka you can come via Gazaria.
Entry fee
৳0–50 · traveller-reported
Walking the embankment costs nothing. The floating resort's ticket is 50 taka — two speakers say the same thing: it's adjustable against your food bill.
Opening hours & best time
The embankment is open any time; resort hours couldn't be confirmed.
Best time
Autumn for kashful, afternoon for sunsets — both praised. Eid days are peak-crowded — cottages vanish.
Traveller tips
The middle of the boat ladder is slippery — use the bamboo support.
Small dinghi-boat rides cost extra, outside the resort's ticket.
Winter afternoons darken early — plan your return ahead.
