Destination guide
Dim Pahar
ডিম পাহাড়
A high point on the Alikadam–Thanchi road — roughly 2,500 ft up, and many rank it among the most beautiful roads in Bangladesh. Cars drive inside moving clouds, streams of mist crossing the road — for many travellers a first-in-a-lifetime moment. The summit looks like an egg, hence the name; the Mro call it Krowdom.
How to get there
Not on the Nilgiri road — go Dhaka → Chakaria → Alikadam, then reserve a bike (৳350 a trip, ~৳1,400 a day), a CNG (~৳2,500) or a chander gari (~৳5,000) for Dim Pahar. En route, the army camp at "10 Kilo" needs NID/birth-certificate copies plus names and phone numbers for permission.
Entry fee
No verified entry fee yet
Nobody mentions a ticket — the cost is the vehicle hire and the paperwork at the checkpost.
Opening hours & best time
No fixed schedule — but the scene swings between fog and bright sun, so travel in daylight.
Best time
Monsoon through autumn for clouds and fog — but travellers warn it is never guaranteed. The road turns slick after rain.
Traveller tips
Hire an experienced driver — the winding road turns fearsome in fog and rain.
Prepare document copies for everyone — there is more than one checkpost.
Stay ready to switch plans in bad weather — one team swapped Dim Pahar for Tindu.
