Destination guide
Ekwya Bil
একুয়া বিল
Ekwya Bil is a Gazipur wetland in its full glory during the monsoon — hyacinth greens and white blooms on the water, village quiet all around. Tranquil bil-sides this close to Dhaka are rare. But the honest truth: reliable detail on this spot is still thin, and most travellers' accounts blend it into the neighbouring Belai Bil area.
History & significance
It is primarily a local fishing and farm wetland; its name has only recently spread among travellers. No historical account has reached our records.
How to get there
The route runs via Chowrasta toward Joydebpur, then a reserved CNG or auto. One traveller's figures: 30 taka per person by shared CNG from the Joydebpur station area, or 100-150 taka for a reserved auto — autos do not normally ply this route, so reserving is the only way. Check locally before you go; a lot depends on the water level.
Entry fee
৳0–50 · traveller-reported
No ticket for the bil-side. The neighbouring park charges 20 taka; a small boat is 200-300 taka an hour, a large shared boat 30-50 taka per person — from a single traveller's account.
Opening hours & best time
Opening hours couldn't be verified — check locally before you go, and visit in daylight.
Best time
Monsoon into autumn, when the bil is full and boats run. Many say it is prettiest in the days the hyacinth blooms. In summer the water dries and the scene changes entirely.
Traveller tips
It works as a single-day trip — parking, boating and food can all be settled in one spot.
Arrange your return vehicle before dusk.
