Gholdari Shahi Mosque
ঘোলদাড়ী শাহী মসজিদ
In Gholdari village, Ailhash union, Alamdanga, stands a remarkably old mosque — local belief, and even historians' dating, puts it before Bakhtiyar Khalji's conquest of Nadia. Tradition says the darvish Omar Shah built it and lies buried in the minaret. After centuries, prayers still continue here daily — visitors say this living heritage is what strikes them most.
History & significance
By local belief the mosque was built in Bengali year 413 (the popular figure 1006) by Khairul Basar Omji (Rh.) to preach Islam; some accounts also say 'Mughal era', so the date carries differing views. Historians date it even before Bakhtiyar Khalji's time. The founder's grave lies in the courtyard.
