Destination guide
Ghora Dighi
ঘোড়া দিঘি
The vast tank inside the Sixty Dome Mosque complex — Ghora Dighi. A fun story explains the name: the water wouldn't rise after digging, so Khan Jahan Ali rode his horse around the tank — hence 'Horse Tank', people say. Winter mornings bring water-lily buds, lines of ducks, and the red brick mosque mirrored in the water — for many this is where the mosque's most beautiful photo is taken. Part of the complex is a restricted conservation zone and closed to visitors.

One of the Khanjahani-era tanks dug for sweet water in the saline land — this is the one inside the main complex. Size estimates differ — some say 40 acres, others 100.

Traveller tips
Don't pick the water lilies — they're there to be seen, and picking is prohibited.
Stay out of the fenced conservation zone — there's plenty else to explore.
Sit half an hour on the benches by the shore — many say the breeze and the water make the calmest moment of the whole trip.
