Itakhola Mura
ইটাখোলা মুড়া
Facing Rupban Mura lies this larger site — its name comes from the old practice of collecting bricks here. Digging has uncovered a huge stupa and a nineteen-room monks' residence — a vihara of the 7th–8th century. Travellers find its structure noticeably grander than Rupban Mura's.
History & significance
Regular digging since the 1980s has brought up an intact stucco Buddha image, solid gold objects and a copperplate whose text, one traveller notes, remains undeciphered.
