Jacob Tower

জ্যাকব টাওয়ার

An 18-storey watchtower beside Char Fasson bazaar — the most talked-about stop on a Bhola trip. Some claim it is the tallest watchtower in the subcontinent — the boast is disputed — but everyone praises the lift ride up and the single view of Char Fasson town and the surrounding rivers. There's a small restaurant at the top.

How to get there

Take the overnight launch from Dhaka for Char Fasson, get off at Betua Ghat and ride an auto to Char Fasson bazaar for Tk 30. From Bhola sadar it's 30–40 km by bus/CNG along the Betua–Kachchhapiya road. The tower stands right at the bazaar, beside Hotel Boxi International.

Visitors cite Tk 100 for the lift ticket to the top.

Opening hours & best time

Go in daylight — winter-morning fog can hide the view entirely.

Best time

A clear afternoon — that's when the town-and-rivers panorama is sharpest.

Traveller tips

  • The summit telescope is broken — bring your own binoculars.

  • Royal Corner at the tower's base is known for malai cha and date-syrup jilapi; the top restaurant charges Tk 80 for a burger and Tk 50 for coffee — pricey.

  • The children's park next door charges Tk 20 and opens around 2:30 PM — worth it with kids.
