Destination guide
Keshorita Bil
কেশোরিতা বিল
By Belai Bil near Joydebpur, Keshorita is monsoon country: hand-pulled boats and engine boats on the water, with a famous banyan platform mid-bil. Beside it sits Aqua Bilash, a small park with kids' rides, a toy train, a wooden walkway and rooftop tea. For many Dhaka families this is the first choice for a same-day return trip.
History & significance
This was farmland and fishing ground on the edge of Belai Bil; tourist crowds have only gathered here in the last decade. The banyan at Bortala is an old local landmark — some claim it is over a century old.
How to get there
Head from Chowrasta toward Joydebpur, then by CNG: a direct CNG from the Agricultural Research Institute to Keshorita is 30 taka, 15-20 minutes. Mind the return — from the bil-side only reserved vehicles are available, otherwise you walk back to the bazar.
Entry fee
৳20–100 · traveller-reported
The bil-side itself is free. Aqua Bilash park entry is 20 taka, individual rides 20-40, or an all-rides package for 100. A hand-pulled boat is 300 taka an hour (or 200 for half an hour, up to 4-5 people); an engine boat is 30 taka per person.
Opening hours & best time
Fixed hours couldn't be confirmed. Stalls open in the afternoon and holiday crowds run until evening.
Best time
Mid-monsoon, with water levels up. Bike parking gets scarce on Fridays. Leave before dark — several travellers describe brutal return jams.
Traveller tips
The shared engine boat leaves roughly hourly — time your visit.
Check the rooftop restaurant's menu and prices before ordering.
When the water drops late in the season, boating can stop — check before you go.
