Khania Dighi Mosque (Chamchika Mosque)
খানিয়াদিঘি (চামচিকা) মসজিদ
About 1–1.5 km from the land port, beside a huge dighi wrapped in mango orchards, stands this single-domed mosque of the Gaur era. Both names are fun: bats (chamchika) once lived inside, so many call it the Chamchika Mosque — others say the arches resemble bat wings. Visitors say it's quiet and crowd-free — a lovely breather after busy Choto Sona Mosque.
History & significance
Sultanate-era architecture of Gaur, roughly 15th–16th century. Some also cite the official name Rajbibhi Mosque. It was restored in 2004–05 but has gone unrepaired since — travellers say the building trembles when heavy trucks pass on the nearby road.
How to get there
By van or auto from the Sona Masjid land-port area; locals say horse carts once ran this route. From Kansat bazar a van costs about ৳25.
