Kodla Math (Ayodhya Math)
কোদলা মঠ
Bagerhat is not only a district of mosques — Kodla Math is the proof. About 13 km north of town, in Kodla village, stands a Hindu math of nearly 64 feet, sheathed in terracotta. It is not a deity temple but a memorial tower; legend says it commemorates Ramchandra Pandit, the scholar of king Pratapaditya. Terracotta panels on the walls and birds nesting in the niches — visitors say this is Bagerhat's other face, beyond the mosque city.
History & significance
The dating splits — some say the 17th century, others the 18th. Most describe it as a samadhi column, probably in memory of Ramchandra Pandit; it stands protected as a mark of ancient Bengali Hindu architecture.
