Destination guide
Mini Cox's Bazar (Balur Char)
মিনি কক্সবাজার (বালুরচর)
A sand char that surfaces in the Meghna — locals have called it 'Mini Cox's Bazar' since 2018. Fresh-water waves all around and a vast stretch of sand underfoot. Many say its draw over Cox's Bazar is the fresh water.
How to get there
You reach it by engine boat or trawler from the Boro Station / mohana area. About 100 taka per person, or 30–50 taka a head on a shared trawler; reserving a whole trawler runs 500–1000 taka. The ride takes 10–15 minutes.
Entry fee
৳0 · traveller-reported
No entry ticket — the whole cost is the boat fare.
Opening hours & best time
No fixed hours — trips run in daylight.
Best time
Winter is best — the char emerges when the water drops. In the monsoon it goes under, covered in water hyacinth; several visitors bluntly say it's unlandable then.
Traveller tips
If you can't swim, skip the char in monsoon — the current is fierce.
Settle the boat fare before boarding.
Monsoon photos and winter reality are two different things — decide by season.
