Destination guide
Nilachal
নীলাচল
A tourist complex run by the Bandarban district administration on the Tigerpara hilltop — only 5–6 km from town, which is exactly why families call it the most comfortable stop here. Several viewpoints overlook the whole town, the hills and the Sangu; on clear days many visitors claim you can spot the Cox's Bazar sea.
History & significance
Inaugurated by the district administration on 1 January 2006. The cottages inside are named Shubhra Neela, Jhulonto Neela, Niharika and Valentine Point — the Valentine Point name travellers mention belongs here.
How to get there
A reserved CNG from town is enough — one group did the full round trip to Nilachal plus an evening drop-back for ৳400. Motorbikes work too, with free parking in front of the main gate. You pass Meghla on the way.
Entry fee
৳50 · traveller-reported
A ৳50 per-person ticket — nearly every traveller mentions the same figure. Nobody reported an extra bike charge.
Opening hours & best time
Open to day visitors until sunset. Two rush windows: the morning clouds (until ~11 AM) and the sunset crowd in the afternoon.
Best time
Many say clouds can be touched here in almost any season, especially monsoon through late autumn. But clouds are never guaranteed — one group got clouds at Nilgiri in the morning and a bare sky at Nilachal at sunset.
Traveller tips
Unlike Nilgiri, drones are allowed here — make use of it if you shoot.
Arrive before sunset — the crowd builds up fast in the evening.
If you are short on energy, do Meghla later — tiring yourself on steps first spoils Nilachal.
The CNG pays a road tax and each person pays an entry ticket — two separate charges, know the split in advance.
