A hill resort area managed by the Bangladesh Army, roughly 2,200 ft above sea level. Almost every traveller says the same thing — the real joy here is standing inside moving clouds in the early morning. Viewpoints in every direction, a helipad, a rooftop restaurant and clean cottages earn it the nickname "Darjeeling of Bengal".
History & significance
It is not an old historical site — it is a tourist centre built by the army. But the surrounding hills and the view of the Sangu river have made it one of the most recognisable addresses in Bandarban.
How to get there
About 50 km from Bandarban town on the Thanchi road — 1.5–2 hours by reserved chander gari or CNG. Book through the association counter at Dhanesh Chattar for fixed-rate fares. At Milonchori checkpost and the army checkpost at the Y-junction you show NID copies and register names and phone numbers, so carry photocopies for everyone. Chander garis usually leave between 8:00 and 8:30 in the morning.

Most travellers report ৳100 per person plus vehicle parking (CNG ৳100, chander gari ৳300). Some, though, say they paid ৳200 — the rate has changed over time, so confirm at the gate.
Opening hours & best time
The best cloud window is dawn to 10 AM — experienced travellers say arrive by 8–9 AM, after that the sun clears the clouds. The compound stays open through the day.
Best time
Winter (November–February) gives clear skies and morning mist; monsoon turns everything deep green. Weekends and holidays get crowded — the earlier you arrive, the better.
Traveller tips
Drones are banned at Nilgiri — they are stopped at the gate, leave it behind.
To stay overnight you must book ahead — cottage rates quoted around ৳6,000–7,000.
Food inside costs more than town — some travellers were shocked even at a ৳150 plate.
Expect a lot of walking between viewpoints — wear comfortable shoes.
Drivers may detour to extra spots on their own — agree the route in advance.
