Nilima Point
নীলিমা পয়েন্ট
In front of the Patharghata upazila complex, a block-and-brick riverside promenade curves along the Bishkhali. The name is a summary of the view — the moment the river's water and the sky's blue merge, the horizon becomes one endless blue. Crowds gather in the afternoon; at dusk the moon rises in the east and its reflection spreads across the river. Travellers consistently call that moment the highlight of the trip.
History & significance
Not a historic site — a modern riverside point built to give the upazila town a beautiful bank.
How to get there
From Patharghata's Golchattar intersection, walk or take a rickshaw (৳10–20); it sits right in front of the upazila office. From Dhaka, take any direct Patharghata bus.
Entry fee
No verified entry fee yet
Nobody mentions any fee — it is an open riverside walk.
Opening hours & best time
Open all day; it comes alive from late afternoon into the evening, and the scene is better when the tide is up.
Best time
At sunset and moonrise; on clear winter evenings the blue is at its deepest.
Traveller tips
Come at high tide for the feeling of walking on water — at low tide the charm fades.
Crowds build toward evening — arrive early for a good spot.
The fish market and Haringhata are close by — combine all three in one trip.
