Destination guide
Gaibandha Pouro Park
গাইবান্ধা পৌর পার্ক
The evening heart of Gaibandha town — and completely free. Huge old trees with benches, a pond with a fountain, a round sitting pavilion, swings, fuchka stalls, and a bright white Shaheed Minar at the centre where the whole district gathers every 21 February. There is even a free public library inside. It sits right beside the railway station and the Pourasava office.
History & significance
The park began in 1927 on about an acre and seven decimals donated by zamindar Govinda Lal Ray for the townspeople's recreation. Its official name honours Shah Abdur Rauf, a martyr of the 1971 war. Parts were under renovation recently.
How to get there
Cross the railway overbridge and walk about five minutes, or take a rickshaw — ৳10 for one, ৳15 for two or three. It is right by Gaibandha Super Market; the big old tree at the gate is the landmark.
Entry fee

Free — no ticket, open to everyone.
Opening hours & best time
An open park without a closing hour; the fountain runs in the evening.
Best time
Evening — fountain, snack stalls and company all come alive then; the open lawns scorch at midday.
Traveller tips
The pond water is not clean — enjoy it from the bank.
Midday shade is under the trees — save the lawns for photos.
A genuinely good photo spot — nearly every visitor says so.
Pair it with Mini Motijheel and the lit Ghaghat bridge for a full town evening.
