Destination guide
Sagar Dighi (Kamala Ranir Dighi)
সাগর দিঘি (কমলা রাণীর দিঘি)
A 66-acre man-made dighi in Baniyachong that locals call the country's second largest — not a place of rides and stalls but of scale, silence and sunset on the bank.
History & significance
Travellers repeat the story: Raja Padmanabh dug it in the 12th century for his subjects' water; when no water rose, queen Kamalabati — directed by a dream — gave her life to it and it filled. Jasimuddin's poem 'Rani Komolabatir Dighi' (in Shochoni) was inspired here; the tale later reached film, radio and stage. A near-identical legend is told at Tangail's Sagardighi — do not conflate the two.
How to get there
About 27–30 km from Habiganj town (≈30 min); combine with the Bithangal Akhra a short ride away. In monsoon part of the Baniyachong route runs by boat.
