Destination guide
Satchari National Park
সাতছড়ি জাতীয় উদ্যান
The district's most popular outing: walkable natural forest crossed by seven streams (the source of the name), a Tripura village inside, and a watchtower whose sunset over the Satchari and Chaklapunji tea gardens is the trip's signature moment. Travellers praise the cold, fresh air even at noon.
History & significance
Protected as the Raghunandan Hill Reserve long before it was declared a national park in 2005; about 243 hectares of tropical forest ringed by tea gardens.
How to get there
CNG from Habiganj town ৳70–80, or auto from Muktijoddha Chattar ~৳50. From Shaistaganj: local CNG to Chunarughat ৳20/person, change to Satchari ৳20. Gate about 2 km off the main road. Full-day CNG circuit (Surma garden–Satchari–Dimdumia) ৳1,200–1,500 after bargaining.
Entry fee
৳35–115 · traveller-reported
Accounts genuinely disagree: most recent visitors pay ৳115 (students ৳57), others cite ৳35–50 — the rate has changed over time. Plan for the higher figure.
Opening hours & best time
Open in daylight; government rule closes the park at 5 pm and visitors are told to exit before then.
Best time
Dry season for the trails; late afternoon for the watchtower sunset. Monsoon swells the streams but muddies the paths.
Traveller tips
Three trails (~30 min / 1 hr / 3 hr); the short one passes a Tripura village. People do get lost — keep to the paths.
No mobile network inside — inform family first and download offline maps.
Watchtower at late afternoon for the sunset over the tea gardens; monkeys snatch snacks and bags at the gate.
