Shaheed Zia Shishu Park
শহীদ জিয়া শিশু পার্ক
Rajshahi's favourite family outing. A leafy ~12-acre park near Nowdapara with a toy train looping the whole ground, paddle boats on the lake, an octopus ride and a ferris wheel. It is not only for children — adults come for the evening adda too, and the two-storey main gate has its own viewing deck.
History & significance
Named for President Ziaur Rahman; accounts differ on whether work began in 2004 or the park opened in 2006. Locals have known it since as the city's first amusement park for children.
How to get there
From Zero Point, Saheb Bazar or New Market, 15–25 minutes by shared auto or easy-bike at about ৳20 per head. From Bhadra bus stand: ৳20 by auto, ৳40 by rickshaw. Bhadra Lake falls on the way — pair the two.
Entry fee
৳30–40 · verified
Entry ৳30; children under two go free. Every ride costs ৳40 — there is no package; buy tickets at the small counter by each ride.
Opening hours & best time
No fixed schedule or closing day is documented — open through the day into the evening. Friday is the busiest; mornings are calm and crowds build from afternoon.
Best time
Late afternoon to evening — the breeze, coloured lights and family picnics make it. To dodge crowds, go Friday morning.
Traveller tips
Two canteens inside serve fuchka, ice cream and tea — no need to carry food.
Separate prayer rooms for men and women sit inside the gate — families can stay comfortably.
The octopus ride is genuinely intense; several travellers warn the cup ride leaves you dizzy.
Motorbike parking is ৳20; on busy days the road outside the gate fills up fast.
On slow weekdays some rides stay shut — ask at the gate before buying your entry ticket.
