Shubho Songkha Sea Beach

শুভ সংখ্যা সমুদ্রসৈকত

A quiet beach, 4–4.5 km long, near Nolbunia in Taltoli — the commerce of Cox's Bazar has not arrived here yet. Every traveller mentions the same thing first: the sunset — estuary light, scattered forest, and a nearly empty beach where you can pitch a tent for the night. The waves are small, the water cool, the space wide — for families wanting the sea in silence, there is no easier address in Barguna. It still lacks official recognition, so infrastructure is minimal — which is both its mystery and its limit.

History & significance

The beach is named after Bodruzzaman Shubho, the 2017 UNO who first put it on the map as a beach. It has no deep history like its older sibling Kuakata, but in recent years it has quietly gathered a following.

How to get there

8–9 km from Taltoli headquarters; from Amtali come via Manikjhuri bazar by bike or CNG. The Amtali–Taltoli local CNG costs ৳100 per head. A bike from the beach to Nidrar Char/DC Point is ৳80. From Kuakata, it is about 37 km via Manikjhuri bazar.

Entry fee

No verified entry fee yet

No one mentions any ticket — the beach is still completely open.

Opening hours & best time

Open all day; the main event is the evening sunset, and camping overnight is common.

Best time

Winter is best — clear skies, a calm sea, and deeper colours at sunset.

Traveller tips

  • Carry food and water — the last shop is before the forest, with almost nothing beyond.

  • For an overnight stay, book ahead — the Hatem Manjil guest house in Laupara (3 rooms, 2 km away) or the government dak bungalow (৳1,500).

  • There are paddle boats and small stalls, but no proper restaurants — set expectations accordingly.

  • In stormy weather there is almost no shelter on the far stretches — check the forecast first.
