Destination guide
Sujabad Kella (Mughal fort site)
সুজাবাদ কেল্লা
For history-hunters only — travellers say so plainly. The Sujabad fort (records cite 1639–1654, under Shah Shuja) was raised on the Nalchity side of the Sugandha against the Magh river pirates. Almost nothing stands today; the draw is standing where a 17th-century river fortress once guarded a quiet bend that few tourists ever see.
History & significance
Local tradition names it after Subahdar (Prince) Shah Shuja; heritage inventories list it among the district's oldest recorded structures. Time, the river and brick-robbers took the rest.
How to get there
Nalchity upazila, on the Sugandha's bank — reach Nalchity by bus or auto from town (or cross the college-ghat kheya), then ask locally; nothing is signposted.
Entry fee

Opening hours & best time

Best time
Any daylight hour; combining it with the Nalchity boat market makes the trip worthwhile.
Traveller tips
Manage expectations — several visitors honestly reported nothing left to see beyond the spot itself.
Ask elders at Nalchity bazaar for the way — local knowledge is the only map here.
