Durga SagorNature & forests · Barishal, BarishalThe largest dighi (excavated lake) in southern Bangladesh, at Madhabpasha in Babuganj about 11 km from Barishal city. It was excavated in 1780 by Rani Durgabati, mother of Raja Joy Narayan, and covers about 25 hectares. A small artificial island sits in the lake and migratory birds gather here in winter. It is close to Guthia Mosque, so the two can be combined in one trip.

Its 58-metre minaret of white marble is described as the tallest in the country. The lakes reflect the mosque from several angles, and evening floodlighting is the best time to visit.
