Photo of Idrakpur Fort

Idrakpur Fort

A river fort built around 1660 AD by the Mughal Subahdar Mir Jumla as part of a triangular defence with the Hajiganj and Sonakanda forts against Portuguese and Magh pirates. Its features include a circular drum tower 32.5 m in diameter and a staircase to a hidden underground magazine. It is managed by the Department of Archaeology and open to the public.

Nateshwar Deul (Buddhist Archaeological Site)

A roughly thousand-year-old Buddhist site in the ancient Vikrampur region, occupied in two phases (c. 780-950 and 950-1223 CE), where excavations have uncovered sixteen stupas — including Bangladesh's only complete pyramid-shaped stupa — monasteries and brick-paved roads. Systematic digging has continued since 2012-13 and an archaeological park is planned here. It is significant for visitors interested in the Vikrampur connection of Atish Dipankar Srijnan.
