Narayanganj

A Mughal river fort on the western bank of the Shitalakshya River, likely built soon after Islam Khan made Dhaka the Mughal capital to guard against Magh and Portuguese raiders. It is a protected Department of Archaeology site open to the public; the walls, gateway and corner bastions survive, though the watch tower is ruined.

An ancient capital of Bengal and a trade centre in the Muslim and pre-Mughal eras. Today the Folk Art and Craft Museum, Panam City and Goaldi Mosque are the highlights.
