Pirojpur

A historic wooden mosque at Burirchar in Mathbaria. Momin Uddin Akon began building it in 1913 with twenty-one artisans and it was completed in about seven years. Its nail-free woodwork uses iron wood (loha kath) and Burmese teak, with carved and painted leaves, flowers and fruit; it was designated a national heritage site in 2003, with restoration from 2008. Rare timber architecture makes it worthwhile for heritage visitors.

A floating guava market on the Kirtipasha canal in Nesarabad (Swarupkathi) upazila - the well-known Atghor and Kuriana guava markets of the Barishal region also fall in this upazila. Guavas arrive from July and the trade runs to September; visit around noon when wholesale trading peaks. It can be combined with Bhimruli on the same day.
