Benapole Land Port
বেনাপোল স্থলবন্দর
Benapole is Bangladesh's largest land port, right across from Petrapole in India. Not a classic tourist spot, but it holds a curiosity of its own — the zero line, the bustle of the international terminal, the rush of a border town. Pair it with the flower village Godkhali nearby for a day trip.
History & significance
This port is the heart of India-Bangladesh trade — the biggest share of the country's import-export trucks pass through here. Customs runs from the Benapole Custom House, and the port is operated by the Bangladesh Land Port Authority. Benapole is now also a port thana.
How to get there
Night buses from Gabtoli, Dhaka — around ৳700 per person at the counter. By train: the Benapole Express leaves Kamalapur around 11:30 pm; get off at Jashore and continue by the Benapole-bound local train or a bus. Inside Benapole a van for four costs ৳60; ৳35 from the poura gate.
