Keramatia Mosque & Mazar
কেরামতিয়া মসজিদ ও মাজার
A late-Mughal mosque near Kachari Bazar in the city — also known as the Ten-Dome Mosque — blending Mughal and Bengali architectural styles, with the pir's shrine resting beside it. Most visitors never realise it is also a mazar.
History & significance
The mosque-madrasa-mazar complex is tied to the Islamic reform movement of the early 1800s — Pir Mohammad Ali Jaunpuri (d. 1873), who came from Jaunpur in India and founded the Keramatia order. Octagonal corner pillars and domes on pendentives set its architecture apart; the district administration manages it.
