Kharka Bil
খরকাবিল
A wide wetland running beside Madarganj's upazila town, crowned by a long bridge-and-walkway over the water built in an 'elephant cage' style, as visitors describe it. Thousands come daily; by evening the walkway fills with families, students and street-food stalls.
History & significance
A recent public project; locals remember it fondly with the name of former member of parliament Mirza Azam. It turned an everyday beel into the upazila's main evening hangout.
How to get there
Bus or CNG from Jamalpur town to Madarganj bazar; the tourist centre is beside the upazila parishad and hospital. From other districts, come to Jamalpur first; Sarishabari-side visitors route via Bhatara.
