Keokradong

ক্যাওকরাডং

At roughly 3,200 ft this summit was once called the "roof of Bangladesh" — the exact height ranking is debated, but for sunrise it remains travellers' first choice. Standing above the clouds at dawn, photos at the zero point, and the army camp helipad nearby — the morning trip here is the biggest payoff of a Boga Lake visit.

History & significance

Many once billed it as the country's highest peak; later accounts place it fifth by height — either way the name remains a symbol of trekking in Bangladesh.

How to get there

From Boga Lake it is 10 km and about 30 minutes by vehicle or bike on the new road — the old trail walk has given way to vehicle access. There is a checkpoint at the entry and the guide handles the paperwork. The walking trail with a guide still exists if you prefer to earn the summit.

Entry fee

No verified entry fee yet

No separate summit ticket turns up in any account — the cost folds into guide, vehicle and stay.

Opening hours & best time

No fixed schedule — but the standard routine is summiting before sunrise, which means setting out in the dark.

Best time

A winter dawn brings the sea of fog and biting cold — do not go up without warm layers. Tourist access begins on 1 October each year.

Traveller tips

  • The few 'hotel' rooms at the top (~৳3,000) have poor washrooms — stay at Boga Lake and day-trip it.

  • Drones are banned — it is an army zone and you cannot enter the camp either.

  • A reserved bike adds the guide fee on top of the bike fare — do the math in advance.
