Manthana Jamidar Bari (Debi Chowdhurani Rajbari)
মন্থনা জমিদার বাড়ি
Manthana Jamidar Bari in Pirgachha is one of the oldest zamindar houses in the region — a full two centuries older than Tajhat. Its most famous zamindar was Debi Chowdhurani, the legend Bankim Chandra later made immortal in his novel. Locals simply call it Pirgachha Rajbari.
History & significance
Built in 1703-04, the house's most famous zamindar was Debi Chowdhurani — real name Jayadurga Devi Chowdhurani, wife of zamindar Narayan Chandra Chowdhury — remembered for her courage and wise rule. A temple stands beside the house, and the family kept another building on G.L. Ray Road in Rangpur town.
How to get there
In Pirgachha Sadar, about half a kilometre east of the upazila parishad — an easy road detour from Rangpur city by any Pirgachha-bound transport.
Entry fee

It is not a government museum like Tajhat — there is no formal ticket system.
Opening hours & best time

Best time
Visit in daylight with modest expectations — it hasn't received the care Tajhat got, but the history rewards you.
