Mithapukur Bara Mosque (Tin Katar Mosjid)
মিঠাপুকুর বড় মসজিদ
About 24 km south of Rangpur city, beside the Rangpur-Bogura highway, stands the roughly 220-year-old Mithapukur Bara Mosque — three domes, four corner pillars, pillars in three rows: locals call it the Tin Katar Mosjid. A calm piece of heritage next to a busy highway that most travellers simply drive past.
History & significance
Built around 1802 (1226 Hijri) in the closing years of the Mughal era by Sheikh Mohammad Saber and his son Sheikh Mohammad Acher. The rectangle measures 10.66 by 4.11 metres with three mihrabs; it is a protected monument of the Directorate of Archaeology.
How to get there
It sits on the highway itself — any Mithapukur-bound transport passes it. Pair it with the Rokeya Memorial and the Eco Park in one Mithapukur trip.
