Sagardari (Madhupalli) — Madhusudan Dutt Memorial
সাগরদাঁড়ি (মধুপল্লী)
The biggest address for literature lovers in Jashore — Madhupalli at Sagardari, the birthplace of Michael Madhusudan Dutt. The old homestead by the Kopotaksho river, his grave beside it, and a small memorial museum. If you love Bengali literature, the pull is different here — travellers almost all repeat the same line: "come see this house at least once." Quiet village surroundings by the river — good for photos too.
History & significance
Michael Madhusudan Dutt (1824-1873) was born in this village — author of the epic Meghnadbadh Kabya and pioneer of the Bengali sonnet. His birthplace is preserved as a memorial museum, holding his statue and memorabilia. The Kopotaksho flows right beside it — many say the river at late afternoon light stays with you.
How to get there
From Jashore take a Keshabpur-bound bus — about ৳30. From Keshabpur bus stand, a van to Hashanpur bazaar is ৳30, then ৳20 by auto to Madhupalli. A reserved auto-van is easier still. Plenty of people do it as a one-day trip from Dhaka — night train in, day trip, night train back.
Entry fee
৳20 · traveller-reported
The museum charges a ticket — ৳20 per person.
Opening hours & best time
No confirmed schedule — it is generally open during daytime. Going in the morning is the safe bet.
Best time
Winter (November-February) — mild sun, pleasant riverside walking. In monsoon the Kopotaksho fills up and looks lovely, but watch the weather.
Traveller tips
See the grave beside the museum — the whole complex is worth one walk.

Coming via Keshabpur, you can fold the Bharat Bhayna Deul into the same loop.
