Teknaf Zero Point
টেকনাফ জিরো পয়েন্ট
The southern tip of Bangladesh's mainland — Marine Drive's 80 km ends here, where the hills run into the sea. Officially it's Shapla Chattar, but everyone says Zero Point; hotel owners hang their own 'Zero Point' signs too, so stay aware. Ships to St. Martin and Chera Dwip leave from here.
History & significance
The Major Sinha checkpoint and his memorial stand nearby — part of this border region's recent history. One account mentions a big fish market — rows of sea fish and shutki-drying stalls.

Direct buses from Dhaka — Relax Paribahan (Fakirapul) 1,000 tk a seat, 7:30 pm to ~7 am; St. Martin Paribahan (Arambag) non-AC 900 tk, AC 1,400–2,500 tk. From Cox's Bazar: CNG/leguna/local bus; about 2 hours by bike down Marine Drive. Tourist caravans charge BRTC 750–1,000 tk, private 2,000–2,500 tk per head for the full road.

Best time
Winter and late autumn are best — also when St. Martin ships run regularly.
Traveller tips
