Guthia Mosque (Baitul Aman Jame Masjid)
গুঠিয়া মসজিদ (বাইতুল আমান জামে মসজিদ)
Barishal locals speak of this mosque with pride, and visitors agree — it's the division's most beautiful. Past the grand gate you meet a huge ablution pond, then the ornate prayer hall, a soaring minaret and mature trees all around. Around 1,500 worship inside; the complex fits about 20,000.
History & significance
Built at personal expense by local businessman Sharfuddin Ahmed Sentu — begun 16 December 2003 and opened around 2006. Some accounts place it in the 1990s instead; both dates circulate. An orphanage sits beside the mosque.
How to get there
From the launch ghat: rickshaw/auto to Natullabad bus stand (Tk 30), then a leguna for Tk 50 — a 30–40 minute trip. Or reserve a CNG for the full circuit (Guthia + Durgasagar + Lakutia): one traveller bargained Tk 1,700 down to Tk 800.
